IGI officer removed after Haywood’s escape: Report

New Delhi, Aug 20: A senior officer posted at the Indira Gandhi International airport has been removed off the desk after the preliminary inquiry suggested that US national Haywood was allowed to flee due to carelessness by immigration officials.

The preliminary inquiry conducted by the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) has also confirmed that there was a major security lapse, which allowed Kenneth Haywood to flee from India clearly defying a Lookout Notice against him at international airports across the country.

The US national was also warned by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) not to leave the country without permission.

Kenneth Haywood’s smooth exit from the country has raised serious a question mark over the functioning of concerned departments, which apparently failed to avert his exit from India.

Haywood is under scanner intelligence scanner in view of a mail that was sent from his email five minutes before serial blasts ripped through Ahmedabad on July 26, killing almost 60 people.

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has ordered a deeper probe to determine the loopholes and intelligence failure in the entire episode.

If Islam is the face of terrorism , christians are the engines behind such cowardly act. Haywood was a part of some christian missionary in India (even his employer is supsected to be a kind of cover for this malicious activities) as proved by the probe. He will defenitly be a part of the terror plot like many other christians also. - Divyesh - Mumbai

Haywood must have given handsome amt in US DOLLARS to these officers, and must have made an easy exit, otherwise it was difficult to flee, if any normal person who is not wealthy like Haywood, would have tried the venture of escape, would have caught the moment he was stepped out of his/her door. sab mile huye aur bhrast hain. - sunita - navi mumbai

Wahh..! Finally the Govt. found a scapegoat. When you are issueing a lookout notice you it was simply your responsibility to have a vigilant eye on his movemnet. How come he rached the IGI? Was this not a case of neglegence by Intelligence officials? How the sacked officer ccould stopped A person varrying all legal documents alongwith his valid passort & visa? Did our intelligence officials knew that he is heading towards IGI from Mumbai? If so then they should know that an American is going to IGI not for a Picnic but to catch a flight. - Babu - Balasore
